Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

Modified Paper Theory Zadie Jumpsuit

Modified Paper Theory Zadie Jumpsuit

Hot off the sewing machine today, it’s a slightly modified Zadie. I have two Zadies already, both of which I made five plus years ago, but I ended up wearing a bit recently and I fancied making another, in a print. It’s a classic pattern for a reason. It’s so comfy, but also feels very professional – it’s my go to presenting outfit.

It’s been such a long time, I didn’t really remember how it all went together, and annoyingly was missing the end of the instructions, but it all went together nicely. I sewed the waist ties into the binding the wrong way round, but actually that worked in my favour as I generally struggled with the binding in the most curved sections, so topstitching the ties over all the messy stitching actually worked well.

One slight change I made is narrowing the legs tapering to two inches on either side at the very bottom, and lengthened it by 9cms (actually 15cms, and then took 6cms off again as it was too long). And please don’t ask me why I sometimes do things in inches and sometimes in cms! I also did a full bum adjustment

The fabric is a cotton sateen from the Minerva exclusive print range, and it’s lovely, very soft!

Oh and I also made a matching scrunchie!

 Details below as always

Pattern: Paper theory Zadie Jumpsuit

Size: 16

Fabric: Minerva Exclusive cotton sateen, 3 metres

Adjustments: lengthened legs by 9cms, narrowed legs by tapering to 4 inches less at the bottom, 2 inch full seat adjustment
