Midi Length Peppermint Pocket Skirt
I made my first Peppermint Pocket skirt a while ago and I wear it all the time even though I made a mistake in the pockets so they are too low for me to actually reach. But the elasticated waist makes it so comfortable and easy to wear. So I've been meaning to make a second one for a while and have just been waiting for the right fabric to come along. Which is this one!
Details below as usual.
Pattern: Peppermint Pocket Skirt, free from Peppermint magazine, designed by Paper Theory.
Fabric (gifted PR product from Minerva): It's a cotton linen blend canvas, medium weight which I couldn't really imagine in a canvas before it arrived! It comes in five colour ways, each with a white and natural (that's the colour of the fabric) stripe. I was between the blue and the red and went for the red in the end. It's quite narrow (110cms) so bear that in mind.
I had 2.1 metres, which is what the pattern asks for (for a 115cm width) but didn't turn out to be quite enough. This has literally never happened to me before, it probably would have needed another 20-30cm for me to fit it in. Very odd!
Anyway, I managed to (just about) fit all the pieces in by cutting the side panels against grain. The white stripes are the other way round, but I don't think it's noticeable at all! And it's good to end up with minimal waste.
Size: I made a size 16 without modifications.
I'm never really sure about midi length on me but I actually love it! I think combined with the high waist it makes me look taller.
