Style Arc Bob pants in rust ramie
These are my eleventy billionth (well, sixth) pair of bobs, what can I say, I love this pattern. Other elasticated trousers have a smarter stomach situation or a more complex construction, but theres just something about this fun balloon shape that keeps drawing me in. There's a lot of fabric to show off a nice fabric, and this is that.
Its ramie, which is a plant based fibre (ramie flowers are like nettles, I think) that behaves basically like heavyish linen. In some lights its got a slight sheen to it, but thats really the only difference I can think of. I love it! It comes in lots of different colours and im saving up the scraps for a patchworked garment.
This is a tried and tested pattern so just the same adjustments as I've made before: I made the size 16, in a slightly shortened length with a completely redrawn curve cos im a shortie. Also a couple of inches of full seat adjustment. I never really follow the instructions for this, they have you attach the pockets and the waist elastic in a really weird way, but it's not hard to work out a more standard way. I also topstitched the waistband elastic in place, and I think it's the first time I've managed to space the topstitching lines consistently.
In wearing the new bobs here with a Toaster sweater in a wool mix knit. I need more wool mix knits in my life!
