Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

 My Edinburgh Yarn Festival jumper

My Edinburgh Yarn Festival jumper

Finally getting round to blogging my Edinburgh Yarn Festival jumper, and some pictures of the festival itself!

It’s the Climb Every Mountain pattern by Heidi Kirrmaier and the yarn is Phileas Yarn DK in the Wanderlust shade, which I bought at Perth Yarn festival. I got four skeins, which wasn’t quite enough, I’m not sure if because I bought for the size S and decided to do a M at the last minute, or cos my tension is off, or cos the yarn weight didn’t quite match the one in the pattern, but anyway, it meant I had to leave off about ten cms at the bottom and not do an icord bind off.

I loved the pattern (as well as they way it was written – a friend made another of this designer’s patterns recently and said she didn’t like the way things were explained, but I had not problem), its quite repeptitive with a lot of stockinette, but the eyelets keep you on your toes. I think this must be the first time I ever knitted anything where I consistently had the right number of stitches, and didn’t have to fudge it at some point.

I would like to make another just so I can get the length and icord thing right. I had to block this one quite heavily to get the bottom edge to lie flat, and I’m a bit worried it might start to roll itself up as time goes on.

There was a photo booth. The pictures were also supposed to go online, but for some reason ours aren’t there, sad times. Kerry’s baby’s face is so cute!
