Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

Elizabeth Suzann Georgia Tees

Elizabeth Suzann Georgia Tees

I downloaded the Georgia tee alongside all the other Elizabeth Suzann patterns when they were free for a while after she (Liz Pape) shut down her company, but never made it. I was printing some patterns recently and added that one in to make to minimum order and to make the postage worth it,  not really expecting much really, thinking it's just another dartless top. But I was wrong! I love it, and have already made three. There's something about the sleeves that makes it interesting, the way they stand up. Works best in a more structured fabric.

Pattern: Elizabeth Suzann Georgia, top length (it also comes in two dress lengths)

Size: One size. There are three sizes, one size small, one size and one size plus. According to the size chart, my measurements are actually in the plus range, but she does like things very roomy, so I made the one size, and I like the amount of ease

Fabric: The yellow one is Ramie from Fabworks which is officially my new favourite. It feels just like linen, and is not expensive, and the colours are lovely. It's on the heavier side of medium.

The other one is a lightweight linen mix I picked up at the sewing day. It gives less sticky outy  sleeves.

You need 1 metre of fabric. Possibly could get away with slightly less, but not much.

Instructions: As this was the free release or the commercial pattern pieces, there are none. I guess if you buy the pattern now, you will get some. In either case, it's pretty obvious if you've made a top before

Adjustments: None, although I did French seam everything in these two versions, which makes the seam allowances ever so slightly larger (1.2 cm as opposed to the 1 cm included). French seaming the sleeve pieces was a bit of a faff, especially in the heavier fabric. But it does look so neat and tidy!

I have already made a third which I will blog soon, and I want to make one with a big gathered skirt.

The items I’m wearing the the tops are the Peppermint Pocket skirt, Closet Core Patterns Pietra shorts, and Style Arc Bob pants.

A bientot!
