Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

All my 2021 makes

All my 2021 makes

It’s that time of year again when I review what I made this year. 29 things, which is more than I thought it would be! looking back over this, I am really pleased with my choices. A lot of these things weren’t exciting of eye catching, a lot of them were old patterns, and there were lots a multiples, but these were all things that were filling gaps in my wardrobe and as a result, things I have actually worn lots.

The most worn things were for the boys, they were the dotty Mini Hudsons every week, and Ellis wears that red egg hoody most days when hes not wearing a school jumper. For me, the green Avery leggings are my favourite running leggings, and what I wore to run the 10k, and the blue loungewear set of the Bobs and LB Pullover is my favourite of my three pairs of pyjamas. The khaki Hudsons are a recent make, but I would wear them every day if that was socially acceptable.

The only one you might slightly class as a fail is the pink Averys, the fabric is too see through with black underwear to wear on their own, so I only really wear them under things, as tights. All the dresses also get worn less because I don’t really have a very dressy lifestyle any more, but they do all get worn regularly.

Thge thing I am most proud of this year is overcoming my fear of shorts and bare legs, and related to this, getting better at trouser fitting. Over the course of the three Pietra’s I made (2 shorts and 1 pair of trousers), I’ve managed to progressively improve my process for shortening the rise without throwing off the lines for the side panels. I still have a long way to go re fitting trousers, but at least i’m on my way!

That’s all there is to say about this years makes really, I’m a happy bunny!

I’ve now got all the plans for 2022, I would like to make another pair of hudsons, in the dotty sweatshirting fabric, and in some jersey as pyjamas. The boys need new Hudsons too (although Milo is about to outgrow the size range), I have another pair of Averys cut out, and abric for a flannel Cissy, which was gifted so I will need to do it soon. Other than that I’ve made no fixed plans, and will decide once I get there.

And here’s the list of blog post if there is anything anyone would like to look up p I’ve put them in the order of the picture:
