Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

I've never really got into sewing for the boys, partly cos they outgrow stuff so quickly, and partly cos they're super particular about what they'll wear, but I decided to give it another shot with these Mini Hudsons after seeing the pair my friend Kerry made for her daughter. The boys (and Ellis in particular) are pretty much only wearing joggy bottoms these days. Although school trousers will be back soon, yeah!

Anyway, details!

Pattern: Mini Hudsons by True Brias

Size: 8 for Milo (he is 8), and 7 for Ellis (he's 5 and a half). The 8 is perfect, the 7 turned out a wee bit big round the hips and bum, though it is the right length and I’m not sure I can be bothered to adjust it

Fabric: French Terry from Koala Kreations, just under a metre each. It has less stretch than the pattern calls for it

Adjustments: I didn't bother with the drawstring, and the cuffs were a pain to get on for Milo's, due to the lack of stretch, plus he had some trouble getting them over his feet initially (they've stretched out now), so for Ellis' I stuck with the size 8 cuffs, and it worked better.

Planning on more pairs in more interesting fabric!
