Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

Tencel Maxi Wildergown

Tencel Maxi Wildergown

Another wildergown! This one is the maxi length, and the fabric is Merchant and Mills tencel twill (the lighter weight one they’ve always had) in the Aperitivo colourway, which they don’t currently have for sale any more. I expected it to be redder and less orange then this, but I actually love the colour! Very summery.

I started sewing this ages ago, during the Februrary break. I made the bodice and just had the tiers to attach. I had a day off and thought it would take me maybe an hour but in the end all the gathering took me all day off and on. The bottom tier is MASSIVE!

I wore this to a 40th birthday meal with my sewing friends on Saturday, I think this will have been my last night out for a good long while as progressively more places go into lockdown. If the world ever recovers from this and we are allowed to travel again, it would be lovely to wear for floating about on a hot day.

All sewing details are the same as my other wildergown. For some reason this feels a little bigger than the other one though, so maybe a L would have been ok. Not that there’s anything wrong with a bit of extra ease!
