Wiksten Shift dress
I’ve been inspired by sewing instagram, which is all over this pattern, to make the Wiksten Shift. It’s one of those patterns (like the Zadie) that seems to look great on absolutely everyone regardless of size. I don’t fully understand how this is, but it’s true.
A few of my local sewing chums had made this and Jen @jens.ks made it at a sewing day, and a few of us ended up trying it on and it fit everyone. She made a size 6, and it fit me, even though my measurements are in the 12. In the end I thought about it a bit and ended up doing the 6 top and 10 bottom, I think it works well.
The fabric I got from the Sew Scottish afernoon tea swap. I literally took this out of Emma @sewdoitemma’s hands as she was about to put it on the table so I got it before anyone else. It’s cotton with a small amount of something synthetic. Emma says stretch, but it’s not stretchy at all, so who knows.
I only just finished this on Saturday and wore it that same day. I’m not sure I’ll get lots of wear out of it as the temperatures have really dropped since the schools went back. But it will be ready for next year, and I think I’ll make a top version at some point.
