Unfolding jacket - Xanele shorts set
For some reason I've gone on a renewed mission recently to use up my stash, including this fake African wax I bought in Paris last summer. I didn't really have a plan for what I was going to make with it (I think I bought 4 metres) and now it's some shorts and an Unfolding jacket. Matching sets forever!
I don't know why I decided to go back to the unfolding jacket after such a long time but I'm absolutely delighted I did.
The fabric is pretty light and drapey. It looks like wax cotton but it's not at all, it doesn't feel waxy and it definitely has some synthetic content, so I wouldn't use it for tops worn close to the body (too sweaty) but as a jacket it's perfect!
This is the short length and its unlined. I also didn't double up the collar band so it's not folded over. All the seams are French seams and it looks so *tidy* I love it. The fabric is pretty frayey but it's all safe and sound now inside the French seams.
The shorts are the Xanele shorts with a slight full seat adjustment but otherwise no changes. Out of the two shorts patterns I've made (them and the the Pietra ones) I prefer this. They are slightly longer and don't ride up between the thighs at all. They're fully elasticated but they don't bunch up, the pleats work a kind of magic.
Factual info as usual
Fabric: a slightly drapey synthetic mix fabric with and African wax type design, from one of the smaller fabric shops in Montmartre
Patterns: wiksten unfolding jacket, now discontinued; French Navy Patterns Xanele shorts
Sizes: L (Unfolding jacket); I think probably size F for the shorts, sorry I can’t remember!
Adjustments: Omitted the lining and the pockets, only used a single piece of the collarband for the jacket; 2 inch full seat adjustment on the shorts
