Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as Iā€™m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

There was an Instagram challenge, the Tits Up Transformation Challenge, recently that I took part in, the challenge was to finish or fix something unfinished or that had previously gone wrong. The chose to make an Ashton top out of this Liberty lawn, which was a dress that had become too small for me (or rather, I'd become too big for it). I ended up not having enough fabric for a whole top, so I paired it with some Merchant and Mills tencel twill scraps I had kicking about. I think it's a really nice combo! I added the pocket to the front so that there would be some of the red there too, using the pattern piece and instructions from the Ultraviolet Tee.

Details below as usual.

Pattern: Helen's Closet Ashton Top, view A

Size: 12, in the larger cup size range

Fabric: Liberty Lawn (black) and Merchant and Mills tencel twill (red)

Adjustments: the back is pieced, and I added the pocket to the front. Otherwise as drafted.
