Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

This is the other wisksten shift top I made. This one is made out of an old dress, which unfortunately is now too small for me. Like properly, unable to get it on too small. Here it was originally, five years and a second pregnancy ago:

i wanted to keep using the lovely border print as the bottom hem. I managed to get the front of the top out of the skirt but of the dress, but there was nowhere near enough for the back. So I pieced it all together! There’s six pieces in that back piece. You can’t really tell because of the print. Weirdly, given that this was once a long sleeved dress, I had hardly any fabric left. But I maged the border print and almost zero waste is a good thing I guess! I think I might have enough to make a mask from the final offcuts, and I’m just pleased I can keep wearing this beautiful fabric!
