French Navy Patterns Stellan Tee
I don’t tend to sew with knits much, but a few of my RTW t shirts died recently, and then my friend was selling this jersey so I decided to buy it and make a t shirt. There are quite a few basic t shirt patterns out there, I decided on the Stellan tee because of the curved hem. Otherwise its a classic boxy t shirt shape.
Pattern: French Navy Patterns Stellan tee
Size: L
Fabric: 1m of cotton jersey from Seasalt - they don’t sell fabric any more now though. I had 1 metre, although you actually just need 90cm if your fabric is 150cm wide
Instructions/Construction: They are really great, detailed and good diagrams. It’s a simple construction, so not really a huge amount to this, but I managed to get all the notches to align, which is impressive given my terrible cutting out skills on slinky fabric. It also has an optional back neck reinforcement, which gives a professional touch, and makes it easy to see where the back is. The reinforcement was the one bit where I went a little bit wonky, but apart from that everything looked neat and tidy. I’ve been avoiding jersey because I’ve had some terrible experiences with neckbands, but this went smoothly. It’s been a long time since I tried though, I guess I am getting better at this sewing thing!
C’est tout!
